Theatre West is issuing an audition call for their production of Whales of August, a drama by David Berry. The director is Bryan Kirsch. This is Bryan’s directing debut at Theatre West. He recently appeared in Skin Deep by Jon Lonoff. He was assistant director on Opal’s Million Dollar Duck by John Patrick.

Auditions will be held at Theatre West, located at 3536 SE HWY 101 in Lincoln City, on Sunday, March 11 and again on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. The cast consists of 2 men and 3 women. No previous acting experience is necessary. Rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions and will require a minimum of 4 nights a week.

It is a sensitive and gently humorous study of two widowed sisters moving into the twilight of their lives. There the richness of past memories and the fading promise of the future come into dubious battle. First produced by the Trinity Square Repertory Company, in Providence, and then by Off-Off-Broadway's noted WPA Theatre. "This is not a play about the pathos of aging, but a call for choice and renewal." —NY Times.

The play will be presented on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 P.M. The play is set to run from Thursday May 3 through Saturday, May 26.

In addition to actors, the director is recruiting construction crew and other behind-the-scenes activities. If you are interested in getting involved at Theatre West, call the theatre and leave a message or stop by auditions and introduce yourself to Bryan.

Theatre West is a non-profit, all volunteer community theatre whose roots in the community go back to 1975. Membership dues are minimal at $10.00 per year for an individual $12.00 for a couple, $15.00 for a family and $5.00 for a student.
